Women’s Club Makes Good Use of the Property.

The Women’s Club began in 1915 in Key West. They met in a home on Division Street , later renamed Truman Avenue. The location was inconvenient for the membership.

For many years, temporary homes manned the Public Library. In the current house, the library was housed in the dining room and the front parlor. The Woman’s Club helped raise funds for the construction of the new library on Fleming Street built in 1958.

The mission of the club is to raise money for women and children’s causes in Key West. They also fund Operation Smile that repairs cleft palates and other abnormalities. Key West doctors contribute to this cause.
