Woman arrested after fleeing in SUV

A 38-year-old Plantation, Florida woman was arrested early Monday morning after she fled from a Deputy in Marathon.

Reena Patel Sanders was charged with fleeing and eluding, reckless driving, DUI, resisting arrest and possession of a controlled substance without a prescription.

Deputy Hradecky was northbound on U.S. 1 at 12:35 a.m. when he spotted a Lexus sport-utility-vehicle traveling southbound at a high rate of speed. Deputy Hradecky turned around and found the SUV to be traveling as fast as 90 mph in a 35 mph zone. Deputy Hradecky turned on his lights and siren, but the SUV did not stop. The SUV turned left onto Knights Key Boulevard and fishtailed as it turned onto Kyle Way. It nearly crashed. The SUV again failed to stop.

Deputy Hradecky boxed in the SUV after it fishtailed again. Deputy Hradecky held the driver at gunpoint. Deputy Jorge Moreno arrived and both Deputies struggled to remove Sanders from the SUV as she resisted arrest and pulled away from them throughout her detainment. Sanders screamed throughout the arrest, including yelling the names of famous actors.

Sanders was taken to jail.

A small amount of marijuana-laced candies were found in the SUV during a subsequent search.
