Veterans Affairs To Reopen Marathon Satellite Office on 2nd Wednesday of Each Month

MARATHON, FL – Monroe County Veterans Affairs will reopen the Marathon satellite office on the second Wednesday of each month from 9:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Monroe County Public Library Marathon Branch, 3490 Overseas Highway, Marathon. The first one is on Aug. 11.

There are approximately 760 Veterans in Marathon and 500 in Big Pine Key.

The satellite office will offer all the services found at the Key West and Key Largo Veterans Affairs offices and will be staffed with an accredited Veterans Service Officer.  Appointments are recommended but not required—call 305-295-5150 to make an appointment.

Services provided by Monroe County Veterans Affairs include:

    • Service-related disabilities
    • Non-service connected pensions
    • Burial benefits
    • Survivor’s benefits
    • Educational and vocational rehabilitation benefits
    • VA home loan eligibility assistance
    • Appellate claims management for any denied benefit
  • Nonmonetary Benefits
    • Military service medal, decoration, and award issuance or replacement
    • Military service records or document requisitions
    • VA Healthcare application assistance
    • Documentation assistance in conjunction with the Department of Veterans Affairs for:
      • Disabled veterans license tags
      • Property tax exemptions
      • Educational benefits
      • Commissary Privileges

This is the second partnership between a Monroe County service and the Monroe County Public Library System. On Monday, Aug. 9, a building and permitting satellite office will open at the Big Pine Key library branch.
