Letter to the Editor

The Senate Republicans are working in secret to codify the mean-spirited healthcare bill of the house. This is a bill that limits the benefit of the elderly, the sick and the poor and rewards the young and wealthy, provided they are in good health. Of its many failings, the preexisting conditions clause and the benefit limits in the house bill could be a death sentence for many people. The house plan shifts a lot of costs and responsibilities to the states. If the states allow insurance companies to sell policies that don’t cover preexisting conditions, those people are thrown into a pool to buy insurance but it will be much more expensive.  The funds states will establish for this will not meet the costs. This is not covering preexisting conditions. Call your Senators.
