Father arrested, then son for domestic incidents

A father and son from Key Largo are both in jail today after domestic related confrontations with the same victim.

44 year old John Tuckus III was arrested Sunday at his home on Lee Avenue. When deputies arrived  at 1:30 a.m., Tuckus and his wife and her daughter were all at the scene. The two women said Tuckus had attacked them after an argument over an upcoming vacation.

At first, Tuckus refused to cooperate and did not follow deputies orders as they told him to stop walking away and show them his hands.  During the course of the investigation into events, Tuckus admitted to being a convicted felon and to illegally having a gun and ammunition which he had recently obtained.

Tuckus was arrested and charged with battery, resisting arrest and possession of a weapon by a convicted felon.

On Monday, his son, 22 year old John Tuckus IV, showed up at the same residence just after noon. His stepmother was there. She told deputies Tuckus has been upset with her since his father got arrested. Tuckus reportedly began yelling at his stepmother “I am going to kill you”; he then backed his car into a fence on the property, breaking the fence; as he left the scene, he spun the tires of his car, spraying pea rock gravel toward the victim and toward the home.

When Deputy Dave Campbell responded to the scene, he saw minor injuries to the victim from the gravel and saw damage to the fence and the house as well. He and Sgt. Sydney Whitehouse found Tuckus nearby with his girlfriend. The girlfriend confirmed there had been an altercation at the home. She showed deputies where Tuckus’ car was and there was damage on the car consistent with the victim’s story.

Tuckus was arrested. He was booked into jail for aggravated assault, battery and criminal mischief.
