Diver arrested for illegal lobster and hogfish

A 40-year-old Sunrise, Florida man was arrested Thursday afternoon after he was found with illegal lobster and hogfish in the Middle Keys.

Rafael DelaTorre was charged with possession out-of-season lobster, possession of speared lobster, possession of undersized lobster, not having a lobster measuring device while in the water and possession of an undersized hogfish.

Middle Keys Marine Deputy Willie Guerra spotted a man diving without a dive flag at the south end of the Toms Harbor Channel Bridge on Duck Key. The diver, identified as DelaTorre, stated he was testing a dive tank and not fishing. Various dive equipment was also located included a spear pole and a plastic bag containing three speared lobster and an undersized hogfish.

DelaTorre was taken to jail.
