Woman arrested for battery on Deputies

A 42-year-old Boynton Beach, Florida woman was arrested Tuesday night for kicking Deputies in the groin multiple times and multiple other instances of resisting arrest.

Shannon Marie Ewing was charged with three counts of battery on a law enforcement officer, resisting arrest with violence, resisting arrest without violence and child abuse not causing great bodily harm.

Sgt. Lissette Quintero and Deputies Andersen Harrill, Cristian Santos and Megan Faison all took part in the arrest. Deputy Andersen Harrill went to Banana Bay Resort & Marina in Marathon about 5 p.m. where a desk clerk reported a 11-year-old male had a “knot” on his head due to being struck by a tablet computer. The juvenile was staying in the same room as Ewing. Deputies took the juvenile — who was not seriously injured — to the Marathon substation where he was turned over to the custody of a family member.

Meanwhile, Deputy Santos went to the room where Ewing was staying. Ewing refused his commands to sit down. She began kicking him in the groin and stomach whilst trying to make egress of the room. Deputy Buscemi went to provide backup. He too was kicked by Ewing. The Deputies eventually placed Ewing in a hobble leg restraint, but Ewing continued to scratch and claw at Deputies, drawing blood.

She was taken to Fishermen’s Hospital where she continued to scream, kick and claw at Deputies.

Ewing was medically cleared at the hospital and taken to jail, whereupon she was shocked with a Taser after her continued failure to follow commands and combative behavior.
