TS Laura Temporarily Suspends Bus Service and other Services

As the path of newly-formed Tropical Storm Laura looks like it might have some impacts on the Florida Keys, the City of Key West has begun some precautionary measures.

All bus service will end after the last route on Saturday, August 22nd. There will be no bus service on Sunday, August 23rd and Monday, August 24th. Unless there are unforeseen changes in the storm, the City intends to resume bus service on Tuesday, August 25th.

The City will be closing the Grinnell Street Park N Ride and the parking lot at Angela and Simonton streets at the end of the day today, Friday, August 21st.

The Key West Cemetery will be closed Saturday, Sunday and Monday.

All playgrounds will be closed on Monday, August 24th.

As of Friday morning, the National Hurricane Center showed the potential for some impacts to the Keys late Sunday and into Monday. They say it’s still too early to determine the strength of the disturbance. Residents are urged to keep a close eye on the Hurricane Center’s updates while preparing your property.
