Two arrested for artwork theft

Two 18-year-old Tavernier men were arrested Wednesday for the theft of a piece of artwork from a condominium worth thousands of dollars.

Kevin Rigoberto Robles was charged with grand theft.

Marco Fucarraccio was charged with accessory to the grand theft.

Deputy Christopher Kilmurray was dispatched to the Summer Sea Condominiums complex in Islamorada on Aug. 18 whereupon he met with two condo employees who explained a $3,000 sculpture of sea life had been stolen from the lobby.

The employees had several videos of the incident, including video taken from the lobby as well as outside. The videos showed one man, later identified as Robles, enter the lobby and leave with the sculpture. The same suspect is seen in the parking lot loading the sculpture into a Honda sport-utility-vehicle. Another man joins the frame and he is identified by a condo employee as Fucarraccio, a resident at the condo complex.

Deputy Kilmurray proceeded to Fucarraccio’s unit whereupon Fucarraccio admitted to helping Robles steal the sculpture by driving the Honda SUV.

Deputy Kilmurray and Sgt. Sydney Whitehouse then went to Robles’ residence whereupon Robles’ admitted to stealing the artwork. The sculpture was located at Robles’ residence.

Both men were taken to jail.
