Trish Miller of Key West to Represent Florida at SEA Paddle NYC  A Paddle Boarding Marathon

KEY WEST, FL (June 27, 2019) – As one of Key West’s most elite stand-up paddlers, Key West resident Trish Miller is preparing for one of the world’s most challenging paddling events, SEA Paddle NYC, which takes place Saturday, August 3, and is hosted by the http://www.seasurfer.org/.

Miller, a SEA Paddle ambassador and elite paddler, will be one of over 100 paddlers from as far away as Hawaii who will glide their way around the waters of Manhattan in a grueling, 25-mile course that traverses some of the world’s most dangerous waters.

In the process, they’ll be raising funds in support of various autism and environmental causes that protect the waters off the New Jersey coast and beyond.

This is Miller’s seventh year tackling the event. Miller has been with the organization since participating in her first SEA Paddle event in 2012.

“Every year of participation adds another dimension of meaning, yet there is one underlying theme that holds it all together…hope,” said Miller.

Miller explained that hope is found in almost every aspect of the event: “I hope we have good weather. I hope we can raise enough money. I hope no one gets hurt. I hope the sun shines on August 3rd. I hope everyone that donates recognizes how truly important their intentions and actions are. I hope to hug everyone that I didn’t get to see last year.”

These are just a few of her “hopes” that are tied to this event.

Miller certainly loves every part of the event. She specifically mentioned how unique the course is and how nothing stops the event from taking place, “Not ferries, not boats, nothing! It’s incredibly unique to be able to paddle around Manhattan.”

Ultimately, Miller noted, “The most powerful part of being involved in an event like the SEA Paddle is witnessing hopes turn into realities.”

The success of this charity event depends highly on those who volunteer, participate, and donate, and Miller urges people to participate in some way—paddling, volunteering, donating or just spreading the word on their social media.
