THREE DUCK KEY BRIDGES: WEIGHT LIMITS PLACED DUE TO BRIDGE CONDITIONS

DUCK KEY, FL – The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) inspectors have advised that three interior island Duck Key bridges are deteriorating faster than anticipated. Based on the field results, FDOT has issued the following weight restrictions: Bimini Bridge has a 3-ton weight limit, Harbor Drive and Seaview bridges each have a 10-ton limit.

Monroe County staff is accelerating the bidding and contracting for the Bimini Bridge replacement, which is in its final stages of the design process. The County is also looking at ways to provide alternative and interim solutions regarding services, repairs, and replacements. More details will be made available as they become available.
