Suspect Drops Molly on Street

A Key West man faces drug trafficking charges after he dropped a hidden bag of drugs during a traffic stop.  On January 18th, just before midnight, the Key West Police Department’s Special Investigations Unit pulled over a car that ran a stop. When they approached the car, they smelled marijuana in the car and asked the driver and his passenger to step out.

Detectives and the K9 unit were searching the vehicle, while the passenger, 39 year old Stephen Tolar, stood near the vehicle. While standing there, a bag fell out of Tolar’s shorts and between his feet. In it, officers found a large quantity of MDMA (molly), crack cocaine, hash and marijuana. The molly has an estimated street value of $2,000.

Additional drugs were then found in the vehicle. Tolar had nearly $1,500 in cash on him.

Tolar was transported to the Monroe County Detention Center and charged with trafficking molly as well as possession of crack cocaine with the intent to sell and with possession of the other drugs.
