SHAL Shelter Clients, Volunteers and Staff Clean The Other Side of Riviera Bridge

Shelter Director Mike Tolbert and a smaller group of a dozen or so homeless Southernmost Homeless Assistance League Shelter residents, volunteers and SHAL staff gathered under the southeast side of the Riviera Bridge on South Roosevelt on June 24 and removed nearly 50 bags of trash for pickup on Monday morning. This site had also been used for quite some time as a haven for vagrants and illicit activity.

The results were quite impressive and another area now looks almost pristine. SHAL thanks everyone who got up early and was able to make part of our community much cleaner and more sanitary. SHAL thanks super volunteer Brenda Jones as well as Joseph Lavallie from the Coast Guard. SHAL also thanks Nick Reed and the Gas Monkey restaurant for graciously providing lunch for the sweaty cleaners!
