Senior Planner Joins City Team

The City of Key West has added new talent to the Planning Department with the hiring of Senior Planner Nathaniel Echeverria.

Echeverria bring to the island a wealth of urban planning and economic development experience. He served as the Economic Development Director for the Kennet region of Kennet Square, PA, implementing and overseeing a regional economic development plan for an area with about the same number of residents as Key West.

Concurrently, he served as a studio instructor in the Department of City Planning at the University of Pennsylvania Graduate School of Design.

He has also served as the Director of Policy and Government Relations in San Jose, CA and Economic Development Manager for the city prior to that.

He has experience in housing marketing analysis in South Africa, and was an Americorps Vista volunteer with Habitat for Humanity.

“We’re excited to have him on board,” said Assistant City Manager Patti McLauchlin. “He comes with great references and years of experience. I had the opportunity to meet with him via Zoom about three months ago and it was clear that he will be an asset to the City of Key West and the community.”
