Rescue Tails / Chester and Layla got hitched!

Chester and Layla entered the Florida Keys SPCA separately for very different reasons. Chester was seized because his owner was not caring for him properly, and Layla was surrendered because her owner moved and could not take her. Layla was adopted soon after but was then brought back because her new owner was unable to dedicate the time that Layla needed. Although the shelter can be a stressful place at times, Chester and Layla found comfort in each other.

Once at the shelter, their personalities came out as wonderful dogs. The two started going to outreach events to meet possible adopters in the community, and it was at these events they started finding they had a lot in common, or at least that is how we perceived it. Any time they saw each other outside of the shelter, they would get so excited that we finally started putting them in a play group together at the shelter, and they have been in love ever since.

In mid-July, they wed (yes, wed!) with several close friends of the shelter to prove their love. They are committed, although it may soon become a long-distance relationship. With Chester’s adoption underway, we are hopeful that Layla’s future adoptive family will arrange play dates with Chester’s adoptive family.

Layla is happy, loving, affectionate, playful, and good natured. If you would like to meet Layla, (and won’t mind chaperoning future dates with Chester!), please stop by our Key West Campus today to meet her! And for more information, please visit fkspca.org/adopt/dogs, or call 305-294-4857.
