Preparing for Rainfall

With the current king tides, and the threat of some heavy rain over the Labor Day weekend, the City of Key West wants to encourage residents to help out by taking a look at nearby storm drains to see that they’re clear of leaves and fronds and other debris.

This team effort will help the City’s utilities department focus on the most severe potential flood areas and ensure that property owners’ homes and businesses avoid possible flooding.

This is a good time to remember to avoid driving in flooded areas. And if you must drive through standing water, remember to proceed slowly in order to avoid sending wakes of water into homes and businesses.
