Two Key West men were arrested after police responded to reported gunshots and a verbal argument early Sunday morning in the 1000 block of Truman Avenue.
Officer discovered Walter Bracewell, 54, with a gunshot wound in the leg and Eric Simmens, 50, who had lacerations on his body. Neither of the men’s wounds were life-threatening.
The residence and surrounding common area showed significant evidence of a struggle. In addition to the firearm and shell casings, officers discovered a plethora of narcotics.
Detectives are continuing to investigate.
The men were transported to Lower Keys Medical Center, then to the Monroe County Detention Center. Bracewell was charged with five felonies including kidnap of an adult for ransom, felon in possession of a firearm, possession of cocaine and drug equipment, and property damage. He was also charged with three misdemeanors.
Simmens faces two felony charges for possession of a weapon and possession of cocaine. He is also charged with misdemeanor possession of drug equipment.
