New Pasión Project boutique dance studio opens virtual class doors

Key West’s newest boutique dance studio, Pasión Project, invites you to satisfy your dance cravings and maintain your fitness with the opening of their 523 Southard Street studio— initially for virtual learning— featuring a variety of classes specializing in Latin dance and aerial arts classes for all ages and levels.

“I am thrilled to support the dance aspiration of others and be able to offer this unique dance curriculum in Key West with such terrific, professional instructors,” says studio owner Pamela Connolly, an acclaimed actress and comedian who has danced since the age of five. “We are also the first dance studio to specialize specifically in presenting and teaching Lambada in the United States.”

At the helm of that class instruction is Master Braz Dos Santos, the world’s most celebrated Lambada dancer and star of the major international dance show, “Brazouka.” Dos Santos also boasts two decades of performance and teaching experience; since his relocation to Key West, students have traveled from across the globe to attend his 50-Hour Certification Courses.

“We are extremely lucky and honored to have him leading our faculty,” says Connolly.

The Pasión Project studio faculty members also include: Tybaldt Ulrich/ Argentine Tango, Swing, Carolina Shag, Bachata, Hustle and all ballroom styles; Jade Whitley/ Line Dance and Country Swing; Brad Meccia/ Sensual Bachata, Brazilian Zouk and Lambada; Studio Manager Amber La Bomba/ Salsa Shines and other Latin dances; Jorge Enrique Valero/ Urban Bachata, Sensual Bachata, and Salsa on 1 and 2; and Jeff Mumford/ West Coast Swing and mobility classes.   In addition, the studio is a fully-equipped aerial arts studio with classes led by Taylor Tarn and stretch, flexibility, and physio-based injury-prevention classes taught by expert physiotherapist Dr Michelle Gibson.

Unable to launch the studio in May as planned, Connolly hired the best technicians and creatives to convert the Pasión Project studio into a state-of-the-art virtual dance studio to help inspire amateur and professional dancers online via Zoom.  When the doors open for live, physically-distanced classes, students can choose between live or virtual learning. Opportunities for private lessons are also available for those that would like to avoid public interaction and/or desire one-on-one instruction.

“Like most business owners viewing the future as uncertain, we will always retain a virtual element, including library of dance instruction videos available 24 hours per day,” she says. “I’m keeping my fingers crossed that Keys residents and visitors will enjoy and support this “Keys Strong” local business!”
