Motorist arrested for multiple charges following traffic stop

A 39-year-old Marathon, Florida man was arrested Friday for a litany of violations following a traffic stop on U.S. 1 in Key Largo.

Eric Kurt Crawford was charged with DUI (with multiple previous convictions), driving with a suspended license, resisting arrest, possession of cocaine, and possession of drug paraphernalia. He was also cited for possessing open containers of alcohol in the vehicle, speeding, failure to display registration, and having no insurance.

Crawford was stopped driving a Ford pickup truck near Mile Marker 107 at approximately 9 p.m. for driving 58 mph in a 45-mph zone. Crawford was argumentative, failed to provide his license and smelled of alcohol. He resisted as the Sheriff’s Office was attempting to place him in handcuffs.

A baggie containing a small amount of cocaine was subsequently found.
