Monroe County Grand Jury Report Released Regarding City of Key West Government
KEY WEST, FL — Monroe County State Attorney Dennis Ward announced today the public release of the Grand Jury Report following an investigation into matters involving the City of Key West.
The Grand Jury, which was impaneled in April of 2025, heard testimony over the course of five weeks and reviewed extensive documentation and evidence. Their report, now a matter of public record, reflects the evidence presented and theconclusions they reached independently, without influence or interference.
“This Grand Jury dedicated extraordinary time and effort in pursuit of the truth,” said State Attorney Dennis Ward. “Each member of the panel gave up their personal time, listened carefully, and carried out their responsibility with integrity and focus. I want to express my sincere appreciation for their service. This process would not have been possible without their commitment to the people of
Monroe County.”
State Attorney Ward also acknowledged the many individuals who came forward to provide testimony during the investigation. “We appreciate those who cooperated and provided honest and thoughtful testimony to the Grand Jury,” he said. “Many of them did so under difficult and complex circumstances. Their participation was essential to helping the Grand Jury develop a clear understanding of the issues at hand.”
“The Grand Jury system plays a vital role in protecting the public interest,” Ward added. “It is designed to ensure accountability and transparency in government,and we believe this process served that purpose.”
Attached to this release is the full Grand Jury Report, along with one letter submitted independently by City Commissioner Lissette Carey in response to the report’s findings.
