Monroe County BOCC will Hold First Public Meeting for Fiscal Year 2018 Budget on Wednesday, May 10

MARATHON, FL – The Monroe County Board of County Commissioners is holding the first of five public meetings and hearings regarding the Fiscal Year 2018 budget on Wednesday, May 10, at the Marathon Government Center, 2798 Overseas Highway. It begins at 10 a.m.

Monroe County’s Budget and Finance Office will present the Commission with the proposed budget. The budget always is a balancing act that involves many different revenue sources, cost centers, projects and funds, in which the monies have specific allowed uses.

The public budget schedule includes:

July 25, Harvey Government Center in Key West. 10 a.m. This special meeting is for discussion of the budget and capital improvement plan and the announcement of the proposed millage rate.

Sept. 5: Murray Nelson Government Center, Key Largo. 5:05 p.m. The first public hearing and adoption of the tentative budget and millage rate.

Sept. 7: Marathon Government Center, 5:05 p.m. A special budget meeting, which is not required but done as a public service.

Sept. 11: Harvey Government Center in Key West. 5:05 p.m. Final public hearing and adoption of the final budget and millage rate.
