Man wanted in Stock Island stabbing arrested at Canadian border

A 25-year-old Stock Island man wanted for stabbing his former roommate on June 25 was stopped at the Canadian border on Friday.

Christopher Estime of Roy’s trailer park was arrested near Montreal for Canadian immigration violations. Estime is a Haitian national.

It is anticipated that once Estime’s legal issues in Canada are resolved he will be extradited back to Monroe County to face a charge of aggravated battery with a deadly weapon.

The Stock Island incident occurred at approximately 1:53 a.m. The 35-year-old male victim stated he kicked Estime out of his residence during an argument. Estime left and came back armed with a knife and stabbed the victim in the neck and arms. He also had cuts and bruises on his shoulder, chest and leg. The victim was airlifted via Trauma Star to Jackson South Medical Center in Miami where he recovered.
