Man arrested in large drug case

A 30-year-old Florida City man was arrested Wednesday after he was found with nearly $2,000 in cash in suspected drug sales in his possession as well as a large amount of cocaine, heroin and methamphetamine.

Javars Anqun Davis was booked on multiple drug possession and sales charges as well as other drug-related crimes stemming from warrants.

Middle Keys Deputy Shannon O’Connell was on patrol in Marathon at 11:22 p.m. when she saw a silver, Nissan Altima traveling south on U.S. 1 with darkly tinted windows. A traffic stop ensued and Davis was identified as the driver. He did not have a driver license, registration or insurance. Davis said the vehicle was a rental and his license was suspended. He was reticent to give his name and then finally did, adding that he had warrants.

Sgt. James Hager arrived and searched Davis. He found more than four ounces of powder cocaine, more than an ounce and half of crack cocaine, nearly an ounce of methamphetamine and more than five grams of heroin as well as assorted drug paraphernalia in Davis’ possession.
