Man arrested for Facebook threats

A 47-year-old mainland Florida man has been arrested following an investigation into threats posted on Facebook in March in which he threatened to murder everyone at a Key Largo bar.

John Dominick Aglio was charged with intimidation/written threats to kill or injure. Aglio was found and initially detained in Pinellas County. Aglio was booked into the Monroe County Detention Center on Stock Island on Saturday.

A man contacted the Sheriff’s Office on March 22 in which he stated he saw Facebook posts written by a suspect, later identified as Aglio. The posts included statements that Aglio intended to “murder everyone at the Caribbean Club.”

The Facebook posts included statements that Aglio’s uncle was found shot to death on Card Sound Road more than three decades ago. The expletive-laden posts suggested people at the Key Largo bar know or knew what happened to his uncle given his uncle had been to the bar previous to his death. Aglio posted that he was going to make people at the bar “all pay one at a time.” He made other threatening statements, such as “they don’t know what the word hate really means” and urged them to “enjoy the good times while you can.”

Uppers Keys Detective Lance Hernandez investigated the case.

Aglio was found, arrested and booked into the Stock Island jail on $1 million bail.
