Man arrested for drugs

A 29-year-old Tavernier, Florida man was arrested on methamphetamine and other drug-related charges Sunday following a traffic stop in Key Largo.

Jasper Roy White Picado was charged with possession of a controlled substance without a prescription, possession of marijuana, and possession of drug paraphernalia.

The Sheriff’s Office stopped a Chevrolet pickup truck on U.S. 1 near Mile Marker 99 at approximately 12:40 a.m. for no tag light. There was a strong odor of marijuana emitting from the vehicle.

Approximately 20.9 grams of methamphetamine and 4.5 grams of marijuana were found.


Man arrested for threatening Deputy

A 50-year-old Marathon, Florida man was arrested Saturday for threatening to harm a Sheriff’s Office Deputy.

Daphony Pender Lyons was charged with threatening a law enforcement officer and resisting arrest.

Lyons threatened to hurt a Deputy who was conducting a welfare check at approximately 9:30 p.m. near Mile Marker 86. Lyons ball his fists while making the physical threats. He also refused Sheriff’s Office commands.


Man arrested for battery at flea market

A 51-year-old Big Pine Key, Florida was who caused a scene at the Big Pine Key Flea Market was arrested Saturday.

Roger David Bliss was charged with battery on a person over the age of 65, resisting arrest, and disorderly conduct.

The Sheriff’s Office was called to the scene at approximately 11:20 a.m. regarding Bliss pushing a 76-year-old male. Bliss was yelling profanities and refusing Sheriff’s Office commands. Bliss also refused to leave the area and had to be physically restrained en route to jail.
