Man arrested for drugs

A 55-year-old Homestead, Florida man in possession of pills and cocaine was arrested Friday following a traffic stop in Key Largo.

Jorge Labanino was charged with trafficking Oxycodone, possession of cocaine, possession of a controlled substance, and driving with a suspended license.

The Sheriff’s Office stopped Labanino for failure to maintain a single lane on U.S. 1 near Mile Marker 102.

K9 Coral alerted to the presence of drugs in the vehicle and 9.3 grams of cocaine, 20.8 grams of Oxycodone, and 5.3 grams of Alprazolam were subsequently found.


Motorist arrested for fleeing

A 46-year-old Tavernier, Florida woman who fled from the Sheriff’s Office in Key Largo was arrested Friday.

Camille Yvette Minnix was charged with fleeing and eluding, reckless driving, possession of cocaine, and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Minnix was traveling 70 mph in a 45 mph zone on U.S. 1 near Mile Marker 102. Minnix did not stop for the Sheriff’s Office and turned into a residential neighborhood, where she increased her speed, nearly striking a parked vehicle.

Minnix stopped on Kingfish Street whereupon she was taken into custody. A small amount of cocaine was subsequently found. There were no serious injuries reported.


Man arrested for spitting on Deputy

A 53-year-old Key West, Florida man was arrested Saturday after spitting on a Sheriff’s Office Deputy.

Timothy Scott Farmer was charged with battery on a law enforcement officer.

Farmer was in temporary custody for an unrelated investigation at a Stock Island gas station. A female Deputy was attempting to take him out of handcuffs regarding that investigation when he spit in her face. Farmer was then taken to jail.
