A 30-year-old Marathon man was arrested early Tuesday after kicking a cat in the face.

Sheldon Orlando Moulton was charged with animal cruelty, possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia and tampering with evidence.

Deputies Corbin Hradecky and Garrett Bragg responded to the 300 block of Anglers Drive at 3:08 a.m. regarding a domestic disturbance. A 35-year-old woman stated her boyfriend, who was present and identified as Moulton, saw her cat on the couch and became angry as he does not like the cat on furniture. She stated Moulton kicked the cat twice in the face. She also stated the marijuana in the residence belonged to Moulton.

Deputy Hradecky noted the cat was hiding behind curtains. He noted it was shaking uncontrollably, refused to leave its hiding spot — cowering and tucking itself as closely to a glass door as possible. Deputy Hradecky noted the cat’s nose was red and swollen.

When Moulton was questioned, he walked away from Deputy Hradecky and attempted to conceal a small amount of marijuana in room with a bandana. Moulton also attempted to pull away from Deputy Hradecky while attempting to conceal the marijuana.

Moulton was taken to jail.
