LIVE FROM KEY WEST! WLRN PUBLIC RADIO INVITES FLORIDA KEYS RESIDENTS TO ATTEND A LIVE RADIO BROADCAST OF THE FLORIDA ROUNDUP: LIFE AT THE EDGE IN THE FLORIDA KEYS AT THE STUDIOS OF KEY WEST – FRIDAY, AUGUST 3, @ NOON

Miami, FL – July 13, 2018 – Living in the Florida Keys is life in paradise, but it comes at a cost.  WLRN Public Radio invites Florida Keys residents to join the conversation in a special edition of The Florida Roundup: Life at the Edge in the Florida Keys, broadcast live from the Studios of Key West on Friday, August 3, 2018, from noon to 1:00 P.M.  Tickets for The Florida Roundup are complimentary, but limited.  To register for seats, visit tskw.org.

Audience members are invited to join host Tom Hudson, Vice Presidents of News for WLRN, along with a panel of Florida Keys journalists and experts, to explore challenges faced by residents in the Florida Keys. Living in the Florida Keys is life in paradise, but it can come at a cost. The Keys struggle to strike a balance between the natural beauty of the archipelago and the demands of life on the islands. Still, the affordability challenges, threat from hurricanes and risk of higher seas can’t dilute the Conch spirit of independence, self-resiliency and individualism.

Guests are encouraged to join the conversation during this live radio broadcast from noon to 1:00 P.M., then stay for a meet and greet with program guests, along with WLRN journalists and staff. Refreshments will be offered following the program. Tickets for The Florida Roundup are complimentary, but limited.  Due to the nature of live radio broadcasting, guests must be in the theatre and seated no later than 11:40am

The Florida Roundup will be broadcast live on 91.3 WLRN and 91.5 WKWM in the Florida Keys from 12:00 – 2:00 P.M., with the first hour produced directly from the Studios of Key West – home of WLRN’s Southernmost news bureau.

The Florida Roundup broadcast also launches WLRN’s 8th Annual Florida Keys Museum and Attractions Weekend, sponsored by The Monroe County Tourist Development Council. The weekend event provides free and discounted admission to museums and galleries throughout Key West and the Florida Keys from Friday, August 3rd through Sunday, August 5th.  Visitors can enjoy special entry to 22 museums and attractions by presenting a special admission flyer.  To print out the weekend pass and view the list of participating venues and attractions, visit wlrn.org
