KWPD Detectives Arrest Drug Dealer

The Key West Police Special Investigations Unit on Thursday arrested a suspected drug dealer carrying a selection of dangerous narcotics. Detectives located Eddie Woods, 60, in a car at a convenience store parking lot on Flagler Avenue. Woods was wanted for possession of heroin and marijuana.

When Woods was arrested on the outstanding warrant, Detectives discovered over four grams of heroin in Woods’s pocket as well as a grocery bag containing crack and powder cocaine. In addition, they found baggies used to package narcotics for street level sales, and nearly $1000 in cash.

Also arrested was Woods’s passenger, 24-year old Corianne Depoo-Preater. Detectives discovered a crack cocaine rock in the seat where she’d been sitting and paraphernalia in her purse.

Woods, in addition to the charges on the outstanding warrant, was charged with trafficking cocaine and possession of drug paraphernalia. Charges on the suspected heroin are pending lab results. With the recent increase in highly toxic fentanyl, the Detectives refrained from testing the powder on scene, instead opting to send it to the lab.

Depoo-Preater was charged with possession of cocaine and possession of drug paraphernalia.
