Keys History & Discovery Center Presents…Before Cayo Hueso
Islamorada – Keys History & Discovery Center Presents…Before Cayo Hueso: A Prehistoric Village in the Florida Keys?, a lecture on Wednesday, April 24, 5-7 p.m. The lecture is at the Keys History & Discovery Center at MM 82 on the property of the Islander Resort in Islamorada. Cost for non-members is only $10, thanks in part to grant funding from Florida Humanities Council. Reservations are strongly encouraged.
Join Ryan M. Harke, an anthropologist, as he shares his ongoing research, which seeks to determine whether this site shows evidence of being a year-round village, and how Stock Island and its peoples relate to other places in the Upper Keys and South Florida. The Stock Island archaeological site (8Mo2) is a mound and midden once located on a tiny island between Key West and Stock Island.
Light appetizers and a cash bar will be available. Reservations are strongly recommended and can be made at 305-922-2237 or [email protected].
