Free Bike Helmet Certification Courses in Key West (5/7) and Key Largo (5/9)

Did you know that a larger proportion of Monroe County’s population bikes to work than any other county in the state of Florida and research shows that Monroe County has the highest fatality rate, the highest ER visit rate, and the 3rd highest hospitalization rate in the state for bicycle accidents with motor vehicles?

The Florida Department of Health in Monroe County is hosting free bike helmet fitter certification trainings to anyone in Monroe County that is interested in promoting bike safety and injury prevention. After completing the two-hour training, certified helmet fitters are eligible to order free bike helmets and other bike safety materials for distribution to the community from the Florida Pedbike Resource Center, funded by the Florida Department of Transportation. The Department of Health is offering this training to educate community members and bring resources to the area in an effort to reduce bicycle accidents and injuries.
