Keys History & Discovery Center Expands Social Media Presence

Added You Tube Channel, Lecture Recordings 

Islamorada, FL – Check out the new YouTube Channel, Keys History & Discovery Center, which houses the Discovery Center’s ever-expanding digital media offerings, include lectures and Facebook Live posts.

While Keys History & Discovery Center remains closed due to the pandemic, the staff continues to provide engaging and educational offerings. In addition to the daily posts on Facebook, viewers can tune in three times a week for a live post. Mondays at 1 p.m., hear from Mote Marine Laboratory’s Aquarium Biologist Blake Terry. On Tuesdays and Thursdays at 10 a.m., Curator Brad Bertelli gives a virtual history lesson about the Florida Keys.  These live posts are then made available on the YouTube Channel.

Our Spring Lecture Series continues virtually. Lectures are recorded and available on the YouTube Channel. Upcoming lectures include:

  • Death at Indian Key: An Unusual Indian Attack, Wednesday, April 29, 6 p.m.
  • Environmental Threats to Florida’s Iconic Crustaceans, Wednesday, May 13, 6 p.m.

Viewers will be able to interact with the speaker and participate in a Q&A session at the end of the presentation. Access is available via computer or by downloading the mobile app.
