Key West Police Week

Mayor Craig Cates has proclaimed this week Key West Police Week.

“As a city we rely on law enforcement officers to keep our neighborhoods safe, enforce our laws, and respond in times of crisis,” he said in the proclamation. “These men and women sustain peace and order in our community. They routinely put their lives on the line to defend ours, and the price of the bravery may result in injury, disability, or death.”

In addition, the Mayor proclaimed May 15th as Police Officers’ Memorial Day, a nationally recognized memorial that honors all those officers who have died in the line of duty.

Key West Police Capt. Sean Brandenburg, who accepted the proclamation, reminded the commission and the community that a memorial service will be held Friday, May 18th at 5:30 p.m. in Bayview Park.
