Idle Hands Summer Youth Employment Program students are making their mark

A Positive Step of Monroe County “Idle Hands Summer Youth Employment Program” interns Savanah Chadic, center, and Jason Flynn, right, both 16 and about to start their senior year at KWHS, worked this summer with Historic Key West City Cemetery Sexton Rosa Diaz, left. Savanah said she enjoyed learning about the different gravesites and their histories. Jason said he liked working outdoors with his coworkers and commented, “Hard work in the morning just makes the rest of the day better.”

A Positive Step of Monroe County, founded by Billy Davis in 1999 to serve some of Monroe County’s highest risk kids and their families, partners with the City of Key West each year to provide stimulating summer employment for motivated Key West High School students.
