Hazardous Waste Drop-off Cancelled

The City of Key West is cancelling the July free hazardous waste drop-off known as First Saturday. Due to heavy crowds and park closures, the drop off is just not feasible.

As Covid-19 cases continue to increase throughout south Florida, local officials are looking daily at situations where the public comes in contact with one another and making decisions. They will be looking again at the feasibility of the drop-off for August at the end of July.

Beginning Thursday at 5 p.m., all public parks and beaches will be closed to avoid overcrowding. That includes Indigenous Park where the drop-off is usually held.

Anyone with an urgent need to dispose of hazardous waste can contact the transfer station on Rockland Key and arrange for a drop off.
