Gabriela Henri Awarded Monroe County Employee of the Year for 2020
MONROE COUNTY, FL – The Monroe County Board of County Commissioners awarded Gabriela Henri, an administrative assistant in code compliance, as Monroe County’s 2020 Employee of the Year for her positive impact on fellow staff members and performance that exceeds normal job expectations. She was presented the award virtually during Wednesday’s meeting. She started working for Monroe County in 2018.
For her code compliance position, she takes the added responsibility of assisting the liaison to the Special Magistrate at code hearings and is continually learning new skills to grow the department. “From her first day on the job, she has strived for excellence in her daily work and developed protocols to assist in the department becoming more efficient,” said Cynthia McPherson, Director of Code Compliance.
Public Information Officer Kristen Livengood nominated her for the award for her dedication to communicating information during the uncertain times at the beginning of COVID-19. Henri stepped out of her code compliance position and assisted the Public Information Office with several tasks, including taking the lead position in answering hotline phone calls, where she averaged 50 or more calls per day, and producing informational videos.
Henri was awarded Employee of the Second Quarter. Other employees of the quarter were Teresa Valdez, Assistant Branch Manager at Big Pine Key Library, and Gabe Price, Project Manager for Information Technology.
