First Responders Honored for Fire Response

During a special Key West Fire Department awards ceremony this week, Assistant City Manager Todd Stoughton issued a special commendation to all of the first responders who, on January 23rd, responded to the deadly fire at 1010 Emma Street. The ceremony was hosted by the Key West Firehouse Museum.

“Despite the heroic efforts of these professional men and women, four members of the resident family eventually lost their lives,” he read from the commendation issued by Mayor Danise “DeeDee” Henriquez. “These professional, dedicated first responders went above and beyond in their effort to quell the fire quickly and administer aid to the victims. Each and every one is to be commended for devotion to duty in the most difficult of circumstances.”
