Fire Quelled Quickly
The Key West Fire Department responded to a house fire on Ashe Street Wednesday just before 5 p.m. Though flames shot high into the air, the blaze was under control within half an hour. Two engines and a ladder truck responded, and Key West Police controlled traffic around the incident.
“The state fire marshal is still investigating the cause,” said Fire Chief Alan Averette, “but the cause does not look suspicious.”
No one was in the house at the time, and there were no injuries.
