Drinking Water Week – Protect, Preserve and Deliver

Florida Keys – May 7, 2018 –  The Florida Keys Aqueduct Authority (FKAA), the American Water Works Association, and water professionals across North America are kicking off Drinking Water Week on May 7th.

Knowing that an informed consumer is crucial to the FKAA’s mission of protecting, preserving and delivering a high quality, reliable water supply; we are inviting consumers to learn more about their water system.

Water systems are often underground and out of sight, but they work 24 hours a day, seven days a week, 365 days a year to deliver clean, safe water to us. Although water infrastructure may be out of sight, it should never be out of mind.  From critical uses such as health care and firefighting, to the mundane task of brewing your morning coffee, water is essential to our daily lives.

The good news is that if we remain proactive in our protection and maintenance efforts, we can stay ahead of the curve.  This also requires effort and attention from community leaders, elected officials, business owners, workers and more. Without strong voices advocating for this work, our water systems will continue to be out of sight and out of mind.  Our investments now will allow us to face long term challenges such as water supply protection; as well as short-term challenges like hurricane recovery, for decades to come.

Please join the FKAA Friday, May 11th at any of our three customer service offices to enjoy some refreshing tap water and snacks, and to learn more about your tap water.

For more information about your drinking water anytime, go to www.fkaa.com or call Julie Cheon, FKAA Public Information Manager, at (305) 295-2150.
