Couple arrested after drugs found during search warrant

A 35-year-old man and a 29-year-old woman were both arrested Tuesday morning following a search of their residence in Marathon by Detectives and state and federal law enforcement officers.

Yisniel Borges Chavez was charged with possession of controlled substance without a prescription, possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Yesenia Mavelin Estupinan was charged with possession of a controlled substance without a prescription.

Sheriff’s Office Special Operations Unit Detectives, Florida Department of Law Enforcement agents and U.S. Customs and Border Patrol agents executed a search at approximately 10:53 a.m. at an apartment on the 200 block of Sombrero Beach Road.

They found Buprenorphine naloxone strips in a cell phone holder of which Estupinan claimed ownership. The strips are a prescription narcotic prescribed by doctors to treat those addicted to opioids. She had no prescription.

They also found a bottle containing liquid Testosterone cypionate and another bottle containing liquid Boldenone undecylenate — both are anabolic steroids. A bottle of Stanozolol pills were also found, another anabolic steroid. Chavez claimed ownership of all three, stating he bought them on the Internet. He did not have prescriptions.

Sheriff’s Office K9 Coral alerted to narcotics in multiple locations in which multiple burnt marijuana cigarettes, baggies, a scale and other paraphernalia were found, which Chavez claimed ownership.

Both Chavez and Estupinan were taken to jail.

Two small children — ages 3 and 4 — were turned over to the care of a family member after the Florida Department of Children and Family Services was notified.
