Cosmetic Shop Returns Money after Five Months
The Key West Rip-Off Rapid Response Team has suspended picketing Tresor Rare a cosmetics shop at 120 Duval after the owner refunded an Alabama women $3,010 and signed a five point best business practices agreement with the group.
Spokesperson Tevis Wernicoff said “We were happy to help get these nice people their money back but these rip offs should not be happening in the first place”
In August of 2017 the women, Sandy Ceravolo of McCalla, Alabama had an allergic reaction after getting a “free” facial at the store. She tried unsuccessfully to return the unopened products the next day but the store refused to issue a refund.
The Rip Off Team, a local Key West consumer advocacy group tried unsuccessfully to secure a refund before starting a sidewalk protest in front of the store Tuesday.
The protest ended Wednesday afternoon when the store owner Eliran Damri issued a refund check to Ms Ceravolo and signed a five point best business practices consent agreement with the group.
The agreement the business to honor a 30 day return policy and the posting of signs stating the policy. It forbids employees from grabbing or touching customers on the street, and from smoking on the sidewalk, throwing cigarette butts into storm drains or spiting on the sidewalk while working.The agreement also requires the store to follow city ordinance and fill out a written statement of cost prior to the commencement of any sale.
The Rip-Off Team has started a recruitment campaign with local newspaper ads and a face book page.
Bruce Mitchell an organizer for the group says “We are hearing from many, many local folks that are sick and tried of being hassled on the street and hearing about these shameful rip offs. We are planning to expand our efforts with help from community minded citizens. These rip-off shops must be stopped. They are ruining our cities reputat
