Body found in waters off Key West

A male body was removed from the Northwest Channel off Key West at approximately 12:15 p.m. Friday.

Detectives are working to identify the man.

The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission transported the body to U.S. Coast Guard Station Key West.

The case remains under investigation and autopsy results are pending.


Man arrested in seafood theft  

A 50-year-old Key West man was arrested Thursday after stealing approximately $950 worth of seafood from a Stock Island business.

Luis Alsanio Manser was charged with multiple counts of larceny as well as fraud and criminal mischief.

Manser was seen in security video camera footage breaking into The Docks on Front Street and stealing shrimp and lobster tails. He then attempted to sell the seafood to a Tom Thumb Food Store clerk on Maloney Avenue where he also used a stolen credit card to make a purchase.

Manser was also charged with attempting to burglarize El Mocho restaurant on Maloney Avenue during the same time period.
