Caleb Bokor of Islamorada released a tarpon on his way to victory in the Redbone Sunrise/Sunset Tarpon Tournament.

Anglers sought for April Redbone Tarpon Tournament

The Redbone Sunrise/Sunset Tarpon Tournament is scheduled for April 8-10 in Islamorada, and anglers are invited to help catch the cure for cystic fibrosis. The Ellises founded the Redbone Tournament Series 34 years ago in Islamorada when they learned their daughter, Nicole, had cystic fibrosis, a usually fatal genetic disease.

After a kickoff dinner Friday, April 8, at the Islamorada Fishing Club, the blessing of the fleet on April 9 will start the competition for tarpon. Anglers are to fish twice, at sunrise and sunset between the hours 6-10 a.m. and 5-9 p.m. Then, on Sunday, April 10, fishing hours are from 6-10 a.m. After that, an awards luncheon is to take place at 11:30 a.m. at the Islamorada Fishing Club.

There are prizes for guided and un-guided categories, as well as a silent auction for great merchandise and fishing trips.

To register, please sign up on the website, www.Redbone.org, or call Susan Ellis at 305-747-0839.
