Alert: Road And Boat Traffic To Be Affected By Installation of Two Concrete Beams For Pedestrian Bridge

KEY LARGO – Traffic on U.S. 1 and boat use through Adams Cut will be affected from 10 p.m. Thursday, July 21 to 5 a.m. Friday, July 22 due to the installation of a 120-foot concrete I beam for the new pedestrian bridge over the Marvin D. Adams Waterway in Key Largo.

Approaching the bridge at Mile Marker 103.3, the southbound lane will be closed. Southbound traffic will be diverted to the northbound lane, which is being divided into two lanes. Traffic will be allowed to travel slowly in both directions. However, there may be intermittent stoppages.

No boat traffic will be allowed through Adams Cut during those hours.

The $1.18-million pedestrian bridge is expected to be finished in December. It is the last piece of the U.S. 1 Bayside Shared Use Path that stretches from about Mile Marker 99 to 106 and provides a safe route for people to walk, run and bike.
