KEY WEST, January 24, 2020 – A Key West woman with a prison record and a Monroe County criminal history going back to the early 2000s is off to state prison again following pleas in her five most recent cases.

Elizabeth Ebinger, 49, pleaded no contest in four drug cases and admitted to violating probation in another and on January 21 was sentenced by Monroe County Judge Mark Wilson to 73 months, or just over six years, followed by four years of drug-offender probation. Assistant State Attorney Christina Cory represented the state.

Overall, Ebinger pleaded out to possessing cocaine, sale of cocaine, sale of cocaine within 1,000 feet of a school or church, possessing Oxycodone, sale of Oxycodone, possessing drug paraphernalia and two counts of unlawful use of a two-way communications device.

Her most recent arrest was on August 6, 2019, when she was a passenger in a Jeep pulled over for a traffic stop on Flagler Avenue. A K-9 detective arrived to assist the traffic officer and had the dog walk around the vehicle; it alerted to narcotics at the passenger-side door. A search of the Jeep turned up Ebinger’s purse on the passenger-side floorboard and, in it, 0.7 grams of cocaine and six small plastic bags with cocaine residue. The Jeep console held. 0.6 grams of cocaine and Ebinger had an Oxycodone pill in her bra.

Three other cases were controlled drug buys by Key West police using confidential informants and recording the transactions and their set-ups.

On April 17, 2019, a confidential informant bought four Oxycodone pills from Ebinger in front of an Eisenhower Drive business. On April 10, 2019, an informant purchased 0.4 grams of crack cocaine from Ebinger near a White Street apartment complex. On March 28, 2019, an informant did the same at a Truman Avenue business.

The violation of probation stems from June 23, 2017, when Ebinger was arrested at a North Roosevelt Boulevard store for shoplifting $46.40 worth of goods. When police confronted her after being called by store staff, she admitted it and also was found with 0.6 grams of cocaine, four pills of Alprazolam and one Percocet.  On August 25, 2017, she pleaded no contest to petit theft with priors, possession of cocaine, possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia. She got credit for 64 days in jail plus two years of probation. She violated terms of it repeatedly and Judge Wilson revoked it.

Ebinger has served two previous prison sentences for offenses including sale of a controlled substance, cocaine possession, credit card fraud and driving without a license causing injury or death. She was most recently released in 2015.
