Robert ‘Rocketman’ Hudson To Be Sent Off Jan. 28 At Porky’s Bayside Restaurant

By Terry Schmida
With 2016 already shaping up as the year of deceased rock stars nationwide, Marathon sadly has added a name of its own to the ranks: Robert “Rocketman” Hudson, who died Jan. 8, at the age of 76.
A celebration of life for the longtime Middle Keys drummer and singer will be held, beginning at 2 p.m. Jan. 28, at Porky’s Bayside, located at Mile Marker 47.5, in Marathon. A number of local musicians are expected to take part in a musical tribute to Hudson, who moved to the Keys in the mid-80s, after a career playing music in Las Vegas in the 1970s and early ’80s.
In Marathon, Hudson was a frequent performer at Porky’s, and the Dockside Tropical Cafe. Hudson also ran a makeshift pirate museum out of his trailer.
