Sheriff’s Employee Arrested

An Sheriff’s Office Airport Security Technician was arrested today, charged with domestic battery.

William Stabenow was reportedly at Coconut’s Bar on Big Pine Key in the early morning hours. His wife and son told Deputy Matthew Dowling they went to the bar in an effort to get him to come home. As they were attempting to put him into the car to go home, he attacked his wife, throwing her to the ground. He reportedly pounded her head on the concrete and, during the fight, her hand and her wrist were injured.

Stabenow was arrested at his home on Little Torch Key. He was charged with domestic battery and was booked into jail.

Stabenow is a probationary employee with the Sheriff’s Office and so will be terminated from his employment effective immediately.
