FLORIDA KEYS MOSQUITO CONTROL to Canvas Big Pine Key

In an effort to control the Aedes albopictus population on Big Pine Key, Florida Keys Mosquito Control District inspectors will be canvassing neighborhoods that are close to US1 on Big Pine on December 8th, 9th and 10th from 8 a.m. until 4 p.m. The inspectors will be searching for and hand-treating any current or potential breeding sites. The Aedes albopictus, also known as the Asian tiger mosquito, is an invasive species of mosquito and is a known vector of many viruses including dengue fever and Eastern equine encephalitis. The Asian tiger mosquito is an opportunistic and aggressive biter that feeds on humans, domestic animals and wild animals.Please assist FKMCD in its efforts of preventing this mosquito from becoming established in the Keys by allowing staff members to perform inspections and treatments on your property.
