Woman killed/man airlifted in crash at Card Sound Road 3-way intersection

A 22-year-old woman was killed and a 27-year-old man was airlifted to a Miami hospital Thursday night after a car struck a sport utility vehicle parked on the side of the road at the Card Sound Road and State Road 905 intersection in north Key Largo.

The Sheriff’s Office responded, however, the Florida Highway Patrol is the investigating agency in the crash and further media inquiries should be directed to that agency.

Sheriff’s Office Deputy Joel Torres arrived approximately 9:16 p.m. to find the 27-year-old man on the ground next to the SUV. The man appeared to be seriously injured. He was later airlifted. The 22-year-old woman was found in about 20 to 25 yards from the SUV in the woods. She was pronounced dead at the scene.

It appeared the car struck the SUV that was parked on the side of the road. The injured man and deceased woman were outside and standing near the SUV when it/they were struck.

The driver of the car is from Boca Raton, Florida and the injured man and deceased woman are from Miami, Florida.

The crash is being investigated further by the FHP.
