Woman arrested for reckless driving

A 31-year-old Marathon woman was arrested early Sunday morning for speeding and illegally passing other vehicles on U.S. 1.

Shana Alfred was charged with reckless driving and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Deputies spotted a black sport utility vehicle southbound at approximately 1:10 a.m. near Mile Marker 83. Sgt. Ed Askins recorded the SUV’s speed at 105 mph.

The SUV passed other vehicles via the center turn lane and in the oncoming lane.

Deputy Chris Rufin stopped the SUV at Mile Marker 65.

Alfred was identified as the driver.

A glass pipe, a spoon and a syringe were found in the SUV.

Alfred was taken to jail.
